Hiromi Tachibana

A Chinese scholar in the early Heian period. A descendant of Tachibana Naramaro, he was the second son of Tachibana Minenori, Junior Fifth Rank, and his mother was the daughter of Fujiwara Suenaga. He was originally written as Hiromi, but in 867 (Jogan 9) he changed his name to Hirosuke. He studied under Sugawara no Koreyoshi (father of Michizane). In 875 he became a tutor to Crown Prince Sadaakira (later Emperor Yozei), and in 877 (Gangei 1) he was appointed Kurodo no to. In 884 he became a Doctor of Literature, served as a tutor to Emperor Koko, and was appointed as a councilor. In 887 (Ninna 3), when Emperor Uda ascended to the throne, the Ako incident occurred. Hiroaki, who drafted the imperial reply appointing Fujiwara no Mototsune to the position of Ako, was held responsible by Mototsune and was about to be punished, but nothing happened. Hiroaki's daughter, Gishi, was the consort of Emperor Uda. He died on May 16, 2nd year of Kanpyo, and was awarded the rank of Chunagon (Chuanagon), Junior Third Rank. He is known for writing the "Kurandoshiki", "Shoshi Toumei", "Chokan Tokan Ryakusho", as well as the inscription on the Jingoji Temple bell from 875.

平安時代初期の漢学者。橘奈良麻呂(ならまろ)の子孫で、従(じゅ)五位上橘峯範(みねのり)の二男、母は藤原末永の娘。初め博覧(ひろみ)と記していたが、867年（貞観9）広相と改めた。菅原是善(すがわらのこれよし)（道真(みちざね)の父）に学ぶ。875年皇太子貞明(さだあきら)親王（後の陽成(ようぜい)天皇）の侍読(じどく)となり、877年（元慶1）蔵人頭(くろうどのとう)に任ぜられた。884年文章博士(もんじょうはかせ)となり、光孝(こうこう)天皇の侍読を務め、参議に任ぜられた。887年（仁和3）宇多(うだ)天皇が即位したとき阿衡(あこう)事件が生じた。藤原基経(もとつね)を阿衡に任ずる旨の勅答を草した広相は、基経から責任を問われて処罰されようとしたが、事なきを得た。広相の娘の義子(ぎし)は宇多天皇の女御(にょうご)であった。寛平(かんぴょう)2年5月16日死去、中納言従三位(じゅさんみ)を贈られた。『蔵人式』『諸司唐名』『朝官當唐官略抄』のほか、875年の神護寺(じんごじ)鐘銘文の作者として知られている。
