Homicide - Tasatsu

Japanese:
Homicide - Tasatsu
A concept of suicide, generally referring to the act of intentionally taking the life of another person. The Japanese Criminal Code does not punish the act of suicide. It only punishes the act of participating in, instigating, or assisting the suicide of another person (Article 202). In contrast, the act of homicide is punished by distinguishing between ordinary murder, parricide, and the crimes of aiding suicide and homicide with consent, depending on the relationship between the victim and the assailant, the victim's consent, and whether or not there was a request. Some foreign legislation recognizes the distinction between premeditated murder and manslaughter, and infanticide, but the Japanese Criminal Code does not recognize these distinctions. The most common means and methods of homicide in Japan are injury with a sharp object, strangulation, and blows with a blunt object. The presence of defensive wounds, the absence of hesitation wounds, and injury to a part of the body that the victim could not have done by himself are characteristics of injuries to a homicide corpse. When strangling, the neck is wrapped around the neck less times in the case of homicide, and the knot is often tied in front or on the side. After a murder, attempts may be made to cover up the evidence of the violence by setting the house on fire to make it appear as if the victim had been burned, dumping the body in water to make it appear as if the victim had drowned, or running the body over with a car.
