Japanese: うた沢∥哥沢∥歌沢 - うたざわ

A genre of Japanese music. An abbreviation of Utazawa-bushi. It is a short shamisen song that originated in Edo in 1857 (Ansei 4), and has its origins in hatsuuta. There were two schools of Shibakin and Toraemon, and since the Shiba school wrote its title as "Kazawa" and the Tora school wrote it as "Utazawa," the collective name has been written as "Utazawa" since the early Taisho period. The popularity of hatsuuta at the end of the Edo period, around the Kaei period (1848-54), gave rise to many enthusiasts, and groups of enthusiasts were called "ren."

邦楽の種目。うた沢節の略。1857年(安政4)江戸に起こった三味線小歌曲で，端唄に源を発している。芝金（しばきん），寅右衛門（とらえもん）という二つの家元があり，芝派が〈哥沢〉，寅派が〈歌沢〉と冠名（かむりな）を書くところから，総括した名称を〈うた沢〉と表記することが，大正の初期から行われている。　江戸の末期，嘉永(1848‐54)ごろの端唄の流行は，多くの愛好者を生んだが，愛好者たちのグループを〈連（れん）〉といった。
