Tribe - tribe

Japanese: 族 - ぞく
Tribe - tribe
〘Noun〙① A clan. A family. A lineage that descends from the same ancestor. A clan. A family. An elephant. ※Taiheiki (late 14th century) 14 "At this time, Takauji accompanied the Eastern Barbarians, and all the tribes marched to Kyoto ." ※Shiji Sho (1477) 18 "There were so many instances of defeating tribes and destroying clans." [Book of Documents - Taisei] ② One of the classes in biological taxonomy. In plants, it is called "ren" to avoid the homonymy of "genus." [Vocabulary of Biology (1884)] ③ An ecological unit for extremely small plant communities. It refers to a small group consisting of several individuals of the same species. ④ It refers to the group of elements in the vertical columns of the periodic table. In the old system, there were groups 0 to VIII, each divided into subgroups A and B, but now it is divided into groups 1 to 18 without using subgroups. [Draft Chemical Vocabulary (1900)] ⑤ Used as a suffix to express "a group with a certain tendency or that gathers in a certain place."

Ya-kara [tribe]

〘Noun〙 ("Ya" means "family" and "kara" means blood kinship, just like "kara" in "ukara" and "harakara") ① Relatives of the same family. Clan. Kindred. ※The Chronicles (720) Nintoku 67th year, this year (Maeda Honkun) "Then, all the Yakara clans filled the Kafuya cave at the bottom of the abyss . " ② ( also written as "hai") Friends. Companions. Partners. Group. ※Utsubo (around 970-999) Kurakaichu "The clan of thieves who make my lord apologize" [Additional note] The synonym "ugara" refers to blood relatives, but "yakara" seems to have referred to a broader range of kin based on the word structure. That makes it closer to "tomogara," and it is thought that the condescending feeling of ② arose from this.

Elephant [tribe]

〘 noun 〙 (a variation of the word "zoku" (tribe)) A clan. People of the same bloodline. Because of. Because of. Also, descendants. ※Tombo (c. 974) Vol. 2 "This is something that must be done, and although I feel lazy, there is no other way." ※Tsurezuregusa (c. 1331) Vol. 6 "The former Chusho-o and Kujo Daijo-daijin (abbreviated) all wished for the clan to continue."
