An old town in Nishiuwa District, in the center of the Sadamisaki Peninsula in western Ehime Prefecture. Mitsuke, in the center of the town facing the Iyo Nada Sea, was once a wind-waiting port and one of the bases for the Choshu Expedition at the end of the Edo period. It was once known as the home of Misaki beef, and a regular calf market was held in Ooku, but it has now declined. Citrus fruits are also cultivated. National Route 197 runs through the town. 愛媛県西部,佐田岬半島の中部の西宇和郡の旧町。伊予灘に面する中心の三机(みつくえ)は古くは風待港で,幕末の長州征伐の一拠点であった。かつては三崎牛の本場として知られ,大久(おおく)では子牛の定期市が開かれたが現在は衰微。柑橘(かんきつ)類の栽培も行う。国道197号線が通じる。2005年4月西宇和郡三崎町と伊方町へ編入。32.09km2。2648人(2003)。
