Year of death: February 28, 1613 (April 18, 1613) Year of birth: Tenbun 20 (1551) A feudal lord in the early Edo period. Governor of Harima. He served Tokugawa Ieyasu as a page from a young age, but from 1580 (Tensho 8), the year after Tokugawa Hidetada was born, he was attached to Hidetada as a supervisor. When the Tokugawa clan entered the Kanto region in 1580, he was ordered to go ahead and settle all matters, and worked day and night to allocate the fiefs of his vassals. In 1601 (Keicho 6), he became a feudal lord with 18,000 koku of rice, and that same year he was appointed as the Kanto Magistrate along with Honda Masanobu and Naito Kiyonari, and demonstrated his skills in managing the Kanto domain. However, when Ieyasu released his falcon in 1618, the rope used for catching the bird was found abandoned, which upset Ieyasu. This reached Hidetada's ears and he investigated, and it is said that Tadanari and Kiyonari were forgiven. Although the two should have been charged with serious crimes, Masanobu mediated and they only received house arrest.
