Kawane tea

Japanese: 川根茶 - かわねちゃ

A regional brand of the Tokai region, Shizuoka prefecture.
This green tea is produced in Kawane Town and Kawane Town (formerly Nakakawane Town and formerly Honkawane Town) in Haibara County, Shizuoka Prefecture. The clear waters of the Oi River, which originates in the Southern Alps, and the river mist that hangs over the area in the mornings and evenings nurture this delicious, fine tea. It has been a tea producing region since the Edo period. Towards the end of the Edo period, high-quality Kawane tea was traded at a high price as an export item, and the cultivation area expanded. It is characterized by a subtle astringency and deep umami flavor. It was registered as a regional collective trademark with the Japan Patent Office in June 2007 (Heisei 19). The trademark registration number is No. 5053823. The owner of the regional collective trademark is the Kawane Tea Industry Cooperative.

静岡県榛原郡川根町及び川根本町(旧・中川根町及び旧・本川根町)で生産される緑茶。南アルプスを源とする大井川の清流と、朝夕に立ちこめる川霧が味わい深い銘茶を育む。江戸時代から茶の産地である。江戸時代末期には、良質な川根茶が輸出品として高価で取引されたことから栽培面積も拡大した。ほのかな渋味と深い旨味が特徴。2007(平成19)年6月、特許庁の地域団体商標に登録された。商標登録番号は第5053823号。地域団体商標の権利者は、川根茶業協同組合。
