Nadir Shah

1688‐1747
Founder of the Afsharid dynasty in Iran. Reigned 1736-47. Originating from the Turkish Afsharid tribe. He gained fame by driving the Afghans and Ottoman Turkish forces out of Iran. After ascending to the throne, he repeatedly waged foreign campaigns, and in 1739 he invaded India, capturing Delhi and boosting national prestige. However, he was defeated in Dagestan and his war against the Ottoman Turks did not go smoothly. At home, the people were suffering under heavy taxes and feudal lords disliked centralized policies rebelled one after another, leading to his assassination by one of his own subordinates. イランのアフシャール朝の始祖。在位1736‐47年。トルコ系アフシャール族の出身。アフガン族，オスマン･トルコ軍をイランから駆逐し，勇名をはせる。即位後外征を繰り返し，1739年のインド遠征ではデリーを占領，国威を発揚した。しかし，その後ダゲスタンで敗北，対オスマン･トルコ戦も順調に進まず，国内では重税にあえぐ民衆，中央集権策を嫌う封建諸侯の反乱が続発，部下の手で暗殺された。【羽田亨一】
