Born December 16, 1822 in Breslau (now Wrocław, Poland)
Died January 19, 1910. A researcher of German agricultural history and a statistician. He studied at the universities of Heidelberg and Tübingen, among others, and joined the Ministry of Finance of the Kingdom of Prussia in 1848. He later served as mayor of Hirschberg (1853), counselor to the German Imperial Statistical Office (72), and professor at the University of Berlin (75). His representative works, "The Land and Agricultural Condition of the Prussian State" (68-71) and "Village and Agricultural Systems among the West Germans, East Germans, Celts, Romans, Finns and Slavs" (3 volumes, 96), are highly regarded by researchers of the history of agricultural policy, especially in Germany.
