Icarus - Icarus (English spelling)

A minor planet. Discovered in 1949 by the Schmidt camera (122 cm aperture) at the Mount Palomar Observatory in the United States. Registration number 1566. One of the Apollo Amor type asteroids that comes very close to Earth, it has a highly elliptical orbit with an eccentricity of 0.827, and at perihelion it approaches the Sun by 27 million kilometers. Its orbital period is also very short at 408 days. It comes very close to Earth every 19 years, and in 1968 it came as close as 6.4 million kilometers. It has a diameter of about 1 km, a reflectivity of 0.17, and its surface material is estimated to be silicate. Its rotation period is estimated to be 2.273 days based on its light variation.

小惑星の一つ。1949年、アメリカ、パロマ山天文台のシュミット・カメラ（口径122センチメートル）により発見された。登録番号1566番。地球に非常に接近するアポロ・アモール型小惑星の一つで、離心率0.827という著しい楕円(だえん)軌道をもち、近日点では太陽に2700万キロメートルまで近づく。公転周期も408日と非常に短い。19年ごとに地球に大接近し、1968年には640万キロメートルまで近づいた。直径は約1キロメートル、反射能は0.17、表面の物質はケイ酸塩質のものと推定され、また自転周期は変光のようすから2.273日と求められている。
