Torahime [town] - Torahime
A former town in Higashiazai-gun in the northeastern part of Shiga Prefecture. Located in the lowlands of the Anegawa River basin, it is a rice growing town. In recent years, paper and light electrical appliances industries have been established here. The Hokuriku Main Line and National Route 8 pass through the town. In January 2010, it was incorporated into Nagahama City along with Kohoku-cho in Higashiazai-gun, Takatsuki-cho in Ika-gun, Kinomoto-cho, Yogo-cho, and Nishiazai-cho. 9.45 km2 . Population: 5,582 (2005).
