Imagawa Daizoushi

Japanese: 今川大双紙 - いまがわおおぞうし

A book on the samurai traditions of the Muromachi period. Author unknown. 1 volume. It explains the etiquette and manners in accordance with the hierarchical relationships in daily life for samurai servants, such as feudal lords who had close ties with court nobles, in 12 areas: bows, hawks, swords, discipline, battle equipment, clothing, horses, palanquins, sake, balls, food, and waka poetry. It is included in the samurai section of Gunsho Ruiju. The same content is found in Kyogoku Daisoshi. It is of a different lineage from Ryōshun Daisoshi, which is said to have been written by Imagawa Sadayo, and the Imagawa and Kyogoku in the titles are thought to refer to the family names that were passed down. 室町時代の武家故実書。著者不詳。1巻。弓，鷹，太刀，躾（しつけ），陣具，衣類，馬，輿，酒，鞠，食物，歌道の12項目について，公家との交流を深めた諸大名など武家奉公人を対象として，日常生活における主従･上下関係に則した礼儀作法を説いたもの。《群書類従》武家部所収。同一内容のものに《京極大草紙》がある。今川貞世の著とされる《了俊大草紙》とは別系統で，書名の今川，京極は伝来した家名を示すと考えられる。【加藤益幹】
