General History - Ippanshi

...A field of history that seeks to understand the world in a unified context. Similar terms include general history, universal history, and human history, and although their meanings may differ slightly depending on the historian, the term world history can be unified. In Japan, there was also the term universal history, but this term is no longer used because it has a strong connotation of a list of nation-states.
