al-Suyūtī, Abū al-Fadl `Abd al-Raḥmān
Born: October 3, 1445, Asyut
Died October 17, 1505 in Cairo. Egyptian Islamic scholar. Author of over 300 works covering the fields of Quranic commentary, folklore, law, history, and grammar. His representative works are Itqān fī `Ulūm al-Qur'ān (Commentary on the Quran) and Ta'rīkh al-Khulafā' (History of the Caliphs).
