Iron Horse

...Known as the great director of the Western classic Stagecoach (1939), he has been called the "god of Westerns" in Japan since before the war. An Irish-American, he entered the film industry during the silent era and directed many Westerns, action movies, and melodramas, and gained attention in 1924 with The Iron Horse, a Western frontier film about the construction of a transcontinental railroad. As a typical Hollywood craftsman who "can handle any subject matter he's given," he turned a wide variety of subjects, including action movies, comedies, social dramas, human interest dramas, and war movies, into compelling entertainment works.
