Kisumire - Kisumire

A perennial plant of the family Violaceae (APG classification: Violaceae). It has a short rhizome with thick white roots that grow in bundles. The stem is erect and 10-15 cm tall. It resembles Viola maxima, but its leaves are flat, the backs of the petals are purple, and the appendages of the sepals are clearly visible. In addition, while Viola maxima is distributed in Hokkaido and the high mountains of Honshu, Viola maxima is distributed from the Chubu region of Honshu to Kyushu, growing in bright places in spring and slightly dry places shaded by Japanese silver grass or bamboo in summer. It flowers from the end of March to early April. It is also distributed in the Amur region, northern China, and the Korean peninsula.

スミレ科（APG分類：スミレ科）の多年草。根茎は短く、白くて太い根が束になって出る。茎は直立し、高さ10～15センチメートル。オオバキスミレに似るが、葉は平坦(へいたん)で、花弁の背面が紫色を帯び、萼片(がくへん)の付属体が明瞭(めいりょう)である。また、分布域はオオバキスミレが北海道、本州の高山であるのに対し、キスミレは本州の中部地方から九州で、春は明るく、夏はススキやササの陰になるやや乾いた場所に生える。花期は3月末～4月上旬。アムール地方、中国北部、朝鮮半島にも分布する。
