A collection of poems presented to high marks for zappai. Around 1688 (Genroku 1), zappai became independent from haikai, and kaisho (also called seishosho or kairin) sprang up around masters to collect poems from the public, organize them, and send them to judges. The winning poems were printed and presented at each performance, and this kaisho edition, which clearly states the date, number of poems, author (group name), address, etc., is the most reliable source of information. In Kyoto, small editions were used, in Osaka, Yokohon editions, and in Edo, single-page prints like Senryuhyo editions were the custom.
