…Steuns, a church memorial painter who did not belong to any school, was characterized by strict realism. Historical elements were prominent in his architecture, such as the Copenhagen City Hall (1892-1905) designed by Martin Nyrop (1849-1921), the New Karlsberg Glyptothek Museum (1901-05) designed by Hack Kampmann, and Grundtvig's Memorial Church (1921-40) designed by Klint. Kampmann's Copenhagen Police Building (1918-24) shows the classical preparatory stage of functionalism, while the completed works of functionalism include the Aarhus University building designed by Fisker and the Danish National Broadcasting Corporation building designed by Lauritsen. …
