Glycerius

Japanese: グリュケリウス（英語表記）Glycerius

Western Emperor of the Roman Empire. Reigned 473-474. He served as commander of the Imperial General Staff (comes domesticus) under Olybrius, and after Olybrius' death, he was elevated to the Western throne by Gundobad, Ricimer's nephew and heir to the throne. Leo, the Eastern Emperor, did not approve this and sent a fleet under the command of Nepos. When Nepos landed near Rome and proclaimed himself Western Emperor, Glycerius surrendered without fighting and was appointed Bishop of Salona. It is said that he was involved in the murder of Nepos in Dalmatia in 480.

ローマ帝国西帝。在位473‐474年。オリュブリウス帝のもとで皇帝大本営の将校団長官(コメス･ドメスティコルム)を務め，同帝没後，リキメルの甥でその実権を継承していたグンドバドによって西帝位に挙げられた。東帝レオはこれを承認せず，ネポス指揮下に艦隊を派遣。ネポスがローマ近くに上陸して西帝位即位を宣すると，グリュケリウスは交戦せずに降服し，サロナの司教に任じられた。480年にネポスがダルマティアで殺害された事件に関係していたとも言われている。
