…Izumi vinegar and Bingo sake are particularly noteworthy as the rise of the brewing industry, but vinegar is not unrelated to dyeing, and it is thought that the dyeing industry also made great progress along with the general development of various industries. For example, plum dyeing from Kaga, madder dyeing from Totomi, and tsukezome (indigo dyeing) from Harima were not nationally distributed products, but it is recorded in documents that plum dyeing and madder dyeing were used for kosode and katabira (short sleeves and kimono) of high-ranking samurai, and plum-dyed kosode katabira (short sleeves and kimono) were presented to the shogun (shogun) every year by the Kaga Shugo Togashi clan, so it is thought that they were of excellent quality. Harima tsukezome dyed in Shikama was of high quality, and was even written about in waka poetry as "tsukezome of Shikama." …
