Scarron - Paul Scarron

Japanese: スカロン - すかろん(英語表記)Paul Scarron
Scarron - Paul Scarron

French poet, playwright, and novelist. Born and died in Paris. He entered the religious order and went to Le Mans in 1633 to serve Bishop Charles de Beaumanoir. He returned to Paris in 1640, but his tuberculous rheumatism, which he had already been suffering from, had worsened, his body was twisted, his legs were weakened, and he was confined to a chair. However, he did not succumb to his illness and promoted the popularity of the burlesque style, which made everything comical, with his works "Burlesque Poems" (1643), "Typhon, or the Battle of the Gods and the Giants" (1644), and "Virgil's Plays" (1648-59), while he also published comedies such as "Jodré" (1643), "Jodré slapped" (1647), and "The Comical Heir" (1649). In 1652, he married the unfortunate orphan Françoise d'Aubigné (later Mme de Maintenon (1635-1719), the granddaughter of the poet Agrippa d'Aubigné), and their salon was crowded with people due to his intelligence and his wife's beauty. One of his representative works is the masterpiece of realistic novel "Roman comique " (1651-57), which tells the story of a troupe of traveling actors set in the provincial town of Le Mans and the many humorous and hilarious incidents that occur among the townspeople surrounding them.
