This national health resort hot spring is located at an altitude of 1,100m at the 8th station of Mt. Kurikoma (Sugawa-dake), which forms the border between Iwate, Miyagi, and Akita prefectures. It is part of Kurikoma Quasi-National Park and belongs to Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture. It has been known since ancient times, and a hot spring guardian was stationed there in the Edo period. It is a hydrogen sulfide-containing acidic alum green spring. 48°C. It has a large amount of hot water, a hot pond, a hot waterfall, and natural steam baths, and is known as a highland health resort. There is a bus that runs from Ichinoseki Station on the Tohoku Main Line.
