...In China, the whole plant is used medicinally and is said to be effective against pulmonary tuberculosis and high blood pressure. Like Noazaami, the basal leaves remain when the plant blooms, and the flower heads that bloom upward include Nohara-azami C. tanakae (Fr.et Sav.) Matsum. and Oono-azami C. tanakae ssp. aomorense (Nakai) Kitam. They are also distinguished from Noazaami by the fact that they flower from August to October and that their involucres are not sticky.
