Japanese: 飯舘[村] - いいたて

A village in Soma County, in the northern part of the Hamadori area of Fukushima Prefecture. It is located in the Abukuma highlands, with the Mano River flowing in the north and the Iihi River and Nitta River flowing in the south, both of which flow to the Pacific coast. The Mano Dam was built on the Mano River, forming Lake Hayama. National Route 399 runs from Tsukidate in Date City to Katsurao Village. Following the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident, the concentration of radioactive materials in the village has risen, and some areas have been designated as difficult-to-return zones, while the majority of the area has been designated as a residential restriction zone, meaning that many residents remain unable to return to their homes. 230.13 ^km2 . 6,209 people (2010).
