She was the wife of Emperor Xuanzong's son, Prince Shouwang Mao , but was discovered by Emperor Xuanzong and became a female Taoist priest and then a noble concubine. She excelled in dance and music, and was also intelligent, so she won Emperor Xuanzong's favor. She was later killed during the Anlushan Rebellion. She is depicted in many poems and novels, including Bai Juyi's "Song of Everlasting Regret ." ( 719-756 ) [２] A Noh play. A third-rate piece. Various schools. [1][一] 中国唐の玄宗皇帝の妃。玄宗の皇子、寿王瑁(まい)の妃であったが、玄宗にみいだされ女道士になり、ついで貴妃となった。舞や音楽にすぐれ、また、聰明であったので玄宗の寵愛を一身に集めた。後、安祿山の乱の際殺された。白居易の「長恨歌(ちょうごんか)」をはじめ、詩や小説に多く描かれている。（七一九‐七五六）[二] 謡曲。三番目物。各流。金春禅竹作といわれる。白居易の「長恨歌」による。馬嵬(ばかい)ケ原で殺された楊貴妃を忘れかねている玄宗皇帝は、方士に楊貴妃の魂魄のありかを探すように命じる。方士は天上から黄泉(よみ)の国まで尋ね歩き、常世(とこよ)の国の蓬莱宮に至って太真殿にいることを知る。楊貴妃は形見として玉の釵(かんざし)を与え、方士の求めで七夕の夜玄宗と交わした比翼連理の契りのことばをうち明け、帰ろうとする方士に霓裳羽衣(げいしょううい)の曲を舞ってみせる。方士が釵を携えて帰ると、貴妃は宮殿の中で悲しみにくれる。[2] 〘名〙① ＝ようきひざくら（楊貴妃桜）※多聞院日記‐天正六年（1578）三月朔日「槻坂やうきひと云垣構植之処、開了」② 梅の一品種。※俳諧・そらつぶて（1649）春「楊貴妃といふ梅花を見てやうきひの梅にてしりぬわらひかほ」③ 香木の名。分類は伽羅(きゃら)。香味は甘苦鹹辛。六十一種名香の一つ。〔名香合（1502）〕
