A medieval and early modern samurai family from Ecchu. Originally from Tako County, Kozuke Province, they took the surname Koremune. During the Nanboku-cho period, they followed the Hatakeyama clan to Kyoto, and became involved in Ecchu when Hatakeyama Motokuni became Ecchu Shugo (military governor). The first historical document from Ecchu shows Jinbo Kunimune as deputy shugo in 1443 (Kakitsu 3), and thereafter they exerted their influence over the two counties of Nehi and Imizu, based in Hosotsu. Jinbo Naganobu, as steward for Hatakeyama Masanaga, opposed Hatakeyama Yoshinari, and raised an army at Kamigoryosha Shrine in Kyoto in 67 (Onin 1), sparking the Onin and Bunmei Wars.
