The second son of Urakami Muramune. After his father's death, he came into conflict with his older brother Masamune, the lord of Murozu Castle in Harima (Hyogo Prefecture). He built a castle in Tenjinyama, Bizen (Okayama Prefecture), and later ruled Bizen, Mimasaka, and Harima. In 1577, he lost his castle to his senior vassal Ukita Naoie.
