?‐1009 Arab astronomer. He conducted observations under the Fatimid caliphs Aziz and Hakim from 977 to 1003. His main work, the Hakim-i-Jij (Astronomical Treasure of Hakim), is one of the great works representing Arabic astronomy along with Biruni's Qanun, and only 44 of its 81 chapters remain. The numerical values given in it were used by Tusi and others in the 13th century, and his observational records of eclipses were used in Newcomb's lunar theory in the early 20th century.
