Arab astronomer. He conducted observations under the Fatimid caliphs Aziz and Hakim from 977 to 1003. His main work, the Hakim-i-Jij (Astronomical Treasure of Hakim), is one of the great works representing Arabic astronomy along with Biruni's Qanun, and only 44 of its 81 chapters remain. The numerical values given in it were used by Tusi and others in the 13th century, and his observational records of eclipses were used in Newcomb's lunar theory in the early 20th century.

アラビアの天文学者。ファーティマ朝のカリフ，アジーズおよびハーキムのもとで，977年から1003年にかけて観測を行った。主著《ハーキミー･ジージュ(ハーキム天文学宝典)》は，ビールーニーの《カーヌーン》と並んでアラビア天文学を代表する大きな著作で，全81章のうちの44章までが現存している。そこに示された数値は13世紀のトゥーシーなどにも用いられ，食の観測記録は20世紀初頭のニューカムの月理論でも利用された。
