Japanese: 白鳥[町] - しろとり

A former town in Gujo County, in the mid-west of Gifu Prefecture. It occupies the southwest of the Hida Highlands, in the upper reaches of the Nagara River, and its central settlement is a key transportation hub where the Shirakawa Highway (National Route 156) and Echizen Highway (National Route 158) split, and the Nagaragawa Railway runs through it. There are many lumber and woodworking factories. The northern part is part of Hakusan National Park. It is home to the Itoshiro Osugi cedar (a special natural monument), and ski resorts such as Aburazaka and Shiratori. In March 2004, it merged with the villages of Yawata, Yamato, Takasu, Minami, Myoho, and Wara in Gujo County to form Gujo City. 197.43 ^km2 . Population: 12,864 (2003).

A former town in Okawa District, eastern Kagawa Prefecture. It faces the Harima Nada Sea to the northwest and occupies the Minato River basin. The central settlement flourished as a town in front of the gates of Shiratori Shrine. There are many small and medium-sized glove manufacturing factories, and the town also engages in agriculture. The Takatoku Line runs through the town, and there are lamprophyre dikes and Quercus phillyraeoides (both designated natural monuments). In April 2003, it merged with Hiketa Town and Ouchi Town to form Higashikagawa City. 70.59 ^km2 . Population: 12,965 (2000).

香川県東部，大川郡の旧町。北西は播磨(はりま)灘に面し，湊川の流域を占める。中心集落は白鳥神社の鳥居前町として栄えた。手袋製造の中小工場が多く，農業も営む。高徳線が通じ，ランプロファイア岩脈，ウバメガシ（いずれも天然記念物）がある。2003年４月，引田町，大内町と合併して東かがわ市となる。70.59km²。１万2965人（2000）。
