Zingiberen

Japanese: ジンギベレン
Zingiberen
It is the main component of the essential oil contained in the rhizomes of ginger, Zingiber officinale , and is a type of sesquiterpene. Its boiling point is 130°C (14mmHg), specific optical rotation [α] D = -73.38°C, refractive index n D 20 = 1.4956, and specific gravity is 0.8684. It turns into a resin when left to stand. When heated to 60°C in acetic acid containing a small amount of sulfuric acid, it becomes isozingiberene, and when dehydrogenated, it becomes cadarine. Another aromatic component of ginger is zingiberol, a type of sesquiterpene alcohol.
