Seo Chung-kyung - Joteikei

Japanese:
Seo Chung-kyung - Joteikei

A Chinese poet from the mid-Ming period. His pen name was Changgu. He was from Suzhou (Jiangsu Province). He was a Jinshi (official scholar) in 1505 (18th year of the Hongzhi era). He was a doctor of state. He liked Bai Juyi and Liu Yuxi, and enjoyed the erotic poetry of the Six Dynasties. He was called one of the Four Talented Poets of the Wuzhong Dynasty along with Zhu Yunming, Tang Yin, and Wen Zhengming. Later, he became acquainted with Li Mengyang and He Jingming in Beijing, and began to study the Han, Wei, and Tang dynasties. He was the only one from Jiangnan among the Former Seven Sons who advocated restoration, but he died at just 33 years old, and his talent was greatly missed. His works include "Di Gong Collection" and "Danyilu," the latter of which was loved by the Qing Dynasty poet Wang Yuyang (Shi Zhen) as a refreshing treatise on poetry. His biography is recorded in the "Ming History," Wenyuan Biography 2.
