In a broad sense, it refers to reflex changes in cardiac function in response to stimuli applied to receptors in various parts of the body or changes in mental state. In particular, changes in heart rate are often seen as a cardiac function. Cardiac reflexes seen in daily life include the regulation of heart rate by changes in cardiac sympathetic and vagus nerve activity caused by changes in arterial blood pressure, venous return, and oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations in the blood that occur during various activities via baroreceptors and chemoreceptors. In addition, the heart rate is reflexively suppressed in response to pain and cold stimuli as somatosensory receptors. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
