Antigonos III

Japanese: アンティゴノス[3世](英語表記)Antigonos III
Antigonos III
? - 222 BCE
King of Macedonia. Reigned 229-222 BC. Nephew of Antigonus II. Known as "Doson." Philip, II's direct grandson, lost his father at a young age, so he became regent in 230 BC and king the following year. "Doson" means to hand over the throne in the future. In response to the growing power of Spartan reformer Cleomenes III, he created a Greek alliance, defeated Cleomenes in 222 BC, and occupied Sparta, striving to expand his external influence.
