King of Macedonia. Reigned 229-222 BC. Nephew of Antigonus II. Known as "Doson." Philip, II's direct grandson, lost his father at a young age, so he became regent in 230 BC and king the following year. "Doson" means to hand over the throne in the future. In response to the growing power of Spartan reformer Cleomenes III, he created a Greek alliance, defeated Cleomenes in 222 BC, and occupied Sparta, striving to expand his external influence. マケドニア王。在位，前229‐前222年。アンティゴノス2世の甥。〈ドソン〉と称される。2世の直系の孫フィリッポスが幼くして父を失ったため，前230年摂政，翌年王となる。〈ドソン〉とは将来王位を譲るという意味。スパルタの改革王クレオメネス3世の勢力伸張に対しギリシア同盟を作り，前222年クレオメネスを敗北させ，スパルタを占領するなど対外的勢力拡大に努めた。【井上一】
