Śaiva (English spelling) Saiva

…A powerful Hindu sect that worships the god Shiva as the supreme god. In Sanskrit it is called Shaiva. Its origins are thought to be quite ancient, but as far as can be seen from written sources, it appears to have had considerable influence in the 2nd century during the Kushan period.
