The Ko people are a mountain tribe living in the northern border area of Thailand and Laos. They originated in Yunnan, China, and speak a Tibeto-Burman language. They are semi-nomadic slash-and-burn farmers, and their main crop is upland rice. They also cultivate millet and beans, and hunt. They live in villages on the highlands and have a patrilineal society. Villages consist of 10-200 households, and are headed by a hereditary village chief. The chief's powers are limited, and he may seek advice from elders, shamans, or a family council when making important decisions. There may be 10-20 people living in a household, but often there are fewer than that. The head of the household has great authority within the family, and family members follow his orders. Clans live in separate areas, and each has its own burial ground.

Akkon, Akka, Tikki-Tikki. They live in the dense forests of the Aruwimi region of the Republic of Congo and hunt using poisoned arrows. They are one of the groups known as pygmies. They were first contacted by the German African explorer GA Schweinfurt in 1870, northwest of Lake Edward.

コー族 Koともいう。タイ，ラオスの北部国境地帯に居住する山岳民族。中国雲南省に起源をもち，言語はチベット＝ビルマ語族に属する。半移動的な焼畑農耕民で，おもな作物は陸稲。雑穀や豆類も栽培し，狩猟も行う。高地に村をつくり，父系的な社会を構成している。村は 10～200戸から成り，世襲的な村長がいる。村長の権力は限られ，重要な決定を下す際は長老やシャーマン，家長会議から忠告を受けることもある。1戸あたり 10～20人が住むこともあるが，それ以下の小人数の場合も多い。家長の権限は家族内できわめて大きく，家族員は家長の命令に従って行動する。氏族は地域的に離ればなれに居住し，それぞれ固有の墓地をもっている。

アッコン Akkon，アッカ Akka，ティキ・ティキ Tikki-Tikkiともいう。コンゴ共和国のアルウィミ地方密林地帯に住み，毒矢を使用して狩猟を行う民族。いわゆるピグミーの名で呼ばれた集団の一つ。 1870年にドイツのアフリカ探検家 G. A.シュワインフルトが，エドワード湖の北西部でヨーロッパ人として最初に接触した。
