A Chinese dictionary written by Liu Xi in the late Eastern Han Dynasty. It explains the origin of words using homophonic words. It is divided into 27 parts according to content, starting with Shakuten, Shakuchi, and Shakusan, and ending with Shakubyō and Shakusōsei, in the same format as the Erya, but it is unique in that it adds explanations from the perspective of "seikun," which holds that words with similar sounds are also related in meaning. Although some of the theories are inevitable and far-fetched, it is an important source of explanations of word origins, and contains many valuable descriptions of the phonology and vocabulary of ancient Chinese, as well as utensils and furnishings whose actual nature is unknown today. Wang Xianqian's Shakumyoshusho of the Qing Dynasty is considered an excellent research book.
