Social Times - Social Times

Japanese: 社会タイムス - しゃかいタイムス
Social Times - Social Times
A progressive mass daily newspaper in the 1950s. First published on March 1, 1951. The representative director and editor-in-chief was literary critic Tokiyoshi Aono, and the managing director was Saburo Eda of the Socialist Party, which suggests that this was a unique newspaper created in cooperation with the General Council of Japanese Trade Unions (Sohyo), the Japan Socialist Party, and progressive intellectuals. The circulation was around 30,000, but it ceased publication in June 1953 due to poor sales.
