Aikawa [town] - Aikawa
A former town in Kitaakita County in northern Akita Prefecture. The main settlement is near the confluence of the Ani River, a tributary of the Yoneshiro River, and the Koani River. The Akita Inland Longitudinal Railway runs through the town. In addition to rice cultivation, poultry farming is also popular. Onodai in the northeast is a wide alluvial plateau where dairy farming is carried out. In March 2005, it merged with Takanosu Town, Moriyoshi Town, and Ani Town in Kitaakita County to become a city, Kitaakita City. 112.80 km2 . 8,004 people (2003).

秋田県北部,北秋田郡の旧町。米代(よねしろ)川支流の阿仁(あに)川と小阿仁川の合流点付近に主集落がある。秋田内陸縦貫鉄道が通じる。稲作を行うほか,養鶏も盛ん。北東部の大野台は広い洪積台地で,酪農が行われる。2005年3月北秋田郡鷹巣町,森吉町,阿仁町と合併し市制,北秋田市となる。112.80km2。8004人(2003)。
