...In terrestrial geckos and Cyrtodactylus species, the fingers are long and thin, and the ventral surface is not suction cup-like. There are 10 to 11 species of geckos distributed in Japan, one of which is the Kuroiwa gecko Eublepharis kuroiwae , which does not have suction cups on its fingers. The representative species of the gecko genus, the Japanese gecko Gekko japonicus (illustration), is widely distributed in Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, the Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan, and eastern China, and is commonly seen in various parts of Japan south of Fukushima Prefecture.
