Shichirinagahama

Japanese: 七里長浜 - しちりながはま

This coast faces the Sea of Japan on the west side of the Tsugaru Peninsula in northwest Aomori Prefecture. It is about 30 km long, with the Byobuyama sand dunes at its back, stretching from the mouth of Lake Jusan to Ajigasawa. In winter, it is hit by strong seasonal winds. On Byobuyama, there is a windbreak and sand-prevention forest created by the Hirosaki Domain during the Edo period, which protects the rice paddies of the Tsugaru Plain that spreads out behind it. Currently, watermelons and melons are cultivated in the sand dune area, and there is a sand dune branch of the Aomori Agricultural Experiment Station. It is part of Tsugaru Quasi-National Park.

青森県北西部，津軽半島西部，日本海に面する海岸。十三湖の湖口から鰺ヶ沢にいたる約 30kmの砂浜で，背後には屏風山砂丘帯が迫る。冬季には激しい季節風に見舞われる。屏風山には江戸時代に弘前藩により造成された防風・防砂林があり，後背部に広がる津軽平野の水田を保護している。現在，砂丘地帯では，スイカやメロンの栽培が行われており，青森県農業試験場砂丘分場がある。津軽国定公園に属する。
