〘 noun 〙① Something that brings together many different kinds of things. Also, something that brings together scattered things in one place. ② = yosae-sata (Yose-sata) *Newly added - March 1, 1234, Tenpuku 2nd year "The inhabitants of the Western provinces, etc., are called gods and people, and are concerned with matters of left and right , and like to receive and use things, and to cause violence ." ③ Especially in cooking, ingredients such as fish paste, eggs, and beans are gathered together in agar or arrowroot starch. It is mainly used as an appetizer. [Ryori Hayashinan (1801-04)]

〘名〙① 寄り合ったもの。引っついたもの。※随筆・独寝(1724頃)上「或大夫のいひしは、より物はなれものと思ふよし、尤のことなり」② 浜辺に打ち寄せられたもの。もくずの類。※浄瑠璃・鬼鹿毛無佐志鐙(1710頃)四「より物の中から刺身にする魚が出ると」

よそえ‐もの よそへ‥【寄物】

〘名〙 なぞらえる物。かこつける物。※虎寛本狂言・萩大名(室町末‐近世初)「『イヤ、これも能(よい)よそへ物が御ざる』『何によそゆるぞ』」
