Antistreptolysin O is an abbreviation for antistreptolysin-O, also known as ASO. Streptolysin O is a hemolytic toxin produced by group A streptococcus, so when there is an infection with group A streptococcus, the level of antibodies against streptolysin O, that is, ASO, increases.
