Also known as Sekizaki. A cape at the tip of the Saganoseki Peninsula in eastern Oita Prefecture. A key location for maritime traffic overlooking Hayasui Seto (Hoyo Strait), with a lighthouse. A scenic spot that belongs to the Nichinan Coast Quasi-National Park. The place name comes from the presence of the Jizo statue associated with En no Gyozuno. Another name comes from the checkpoint Saganoseki, which is said to have begun during the Fujiwara no Sumitomo Rebellion. 別称関崎。大分県東部,佐賀関半島の先端をなす岬。速吸瀬戸 (豊予海峡) にのぞむ海上交通の要地で,灯台がある。また景勝の地で日豊海岸国定公園に属する。地名は役小角ゆかりの地蔵仏のあることに由来。また別称は藤原純友の乱のときに始るといわれる関所の佐賀関による。
