...The thoracic legs of the larvae are small compared to the body and lack a tail protrusion. The wrinkled bark beetle (Rhysodidae) belongs to the suborder Carnivora along with the ground beetles, but is thought to have retained a primitive morphology. They are found mainly in tropical forests, with about 130 species recorded worldwide, and nine species recorded in Japan, including the brown rhysodidae, narrow rhysodidae, and brown rhysodidae.
