It is circular with a square hole in the center and the four characters Haedong Tongbo engraved on the top, bottom, left and right. …

The history of full-scale coin minting began in the Goryeo dynasty. It is said that the first iron coin, the Qianwon Chobo, was minted in 996, and after that, iron and copper coins such as the Samhan Tongbo, Samhan Chobo, Haedong Tongbo, Haedong Chobo, Samguk Tongbo, and Samguk Chobo were issued one after another. Silver coins called ginbei (silver kettle) or katsuko (broadmouth) were also minted.
