Red Feather - Akaihane

A feather worn on the chest of a donor in the Community Chest campaign (held every October) to raise funds for private social welfare projects. In a broad sense, it refers to the Community Chest. It began to be used in the United States in 1928, and has been used in Japan since 1948 (Showa 23). A seasonal word for autumn.

民間社会福祉事業の資金集めのための共同募金運動（毎年10月）で、募金者の胸につける羽根。広義には共同募金をさす。1928年アメリカ合衆国で用いられ始め、日本では1948年（昭和23）から用いられている。秋の季語。
