A town in Inba County in northern Chiba Prefecture. It is located on the Shimousa Plateau on the south shore of Lake Inban. The city center developed as a castle town in the Middle Ages and as a post town on the Narita Kaido road in the early modern period. The town produces rice and vegetables, and brews sake. It is served by the Sobu Main Line, Narita Line, and Keisei Electric Railway. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 19.01 km2 . Population: 21,234 (2010).
