A town in Shibata County in southern Miyagi Prefecture, located at the confluence of the Abukuma River and the Shiroishi River. The Tohoku Main Line runs through the town, and the Abukuma Express Line branches off here. Tsukinoki is a post town on the Oshu Kaido road, and Funaoka was the castle town of Harada Kai, famous for "Sendai Hagi." There is an industrial park, and manufacturing is thriving.
