A former town in Nishikasugai County in the northwest of Aichi Prefecture. It borders the north of Nagoya City and is in the center of the Nobi Plain. Formerly an agricultural region, it has been developed into residential areas and is now a commuter town for Nagoya City. The Meitetsu Inuyama Line runs through it. In March 2006, it merged with Nishiharu Town in Nishikasugai County to become a city, Kitanagoya City. Area: 8.39 km2 . Population: 42,463 (2003). 愛知県北西部,西春日井(にしかすがい)郡の旧町。名古屋市の北に接し,濃尾平野の中部にある。かつては農業地域であったが,宅地化が進み,名古屋市のベッドタウンとなっている。名鉄犬山線が通じる。2006年3月,西春日井郡西春町と合併し市制,北名古屋市となる。8.39km2。4万2463人(2003)。
