Habu Ruins
The remains of a settlement from the early to middle Yayoi period are located in Habu, Kume, Mikazuki-cho, Ogi-gun, Saga Prefecture. It is located 7m above sea level at the end of an alluvial fan formed by the Gion River flowing down from Tenzan at the western end of the Sefuri Mountains, and covers an area of approximately 700m north to south and 500m east to west. Excavations were carried out in 1971 and 1972, and the remains of pit dwellings, storage pits, and wells were discovered. The remains of the pit dwellings contained pillar bases measuring 10 to 15cm in diameter. Some of the bottom ends of the pillars are sharp, as they were when they were cut, while others have been trimmed to flat ends, and some even have lattice holes.
